Reventazon River: Carmen Section

The Reventazón River is a great big water run, with moderate difficulty. The lush surroundings, abundant bird life and good amount of fun rapids makes this a great introduction to river running. This run is clearly divided in two halves. The first hour is very exciting, with big waves and long rapids.

We stop for a first class buffet lunch, a picnic at the prettiest beach on the river. The second half is more relaxed as the river enters the true lower Caribbean. The surroundings take on a jungle character and the wildlife is more plentiful! At the end we take you to our Exploration Center, where you can change, shower and relax.

Itinerary:

6:00 — 7:00 amPick-up in your choice of San José, Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, Tortuguero or Arenal Volcano Area (5:30am pickup approx for Arenal and Tortuguero). We will advise a more exact pickup time with your confirmation.
7:00 — 8:15 amEn route to “Exploration Center” in Siquirres
8:15 — 9:00 amBreakfast at the Exploration Center
9:00 — 9:30 amEn route to river
10:15 amPreparation for the descent (safety orientation, paddle practice)
10:15 — 2:15 pmRiver descent (including lunch)

  2. Cancellation charges vary by the provider, please contact us for details.
  3. Most services run daily unless they have reached capacity on your date or have not reached a minimum number of persons required for the service to operate. If we are unable to accommodate you on your chosen date, we will, at your option, either reschedule your date or promptly refund your payment, less bank fees.
  4. Tours will depart daily regardless of weather unless conditions would make it unsafe, so please be prepared for the possibility of rain.
  5. Should your plans change and you need to make changes, we will work with the supplier to either accommodate you at another time or refund your money according to our terms & conditions.
  6. The client is responsible for any fees charged by the vendor as they have committed resources to your arrangement and may have more restrictive policies. The more notice you give us, the more likely we will be able to re-accommodate you.
  7. For arrangements within Costa Rica please always make sure to carry a copy of your valid passport and your last entry stamp with you. For day and multi-day trips that involve border-crossing you must carry your valid passport and a copy of it with you at all times. We also recommend to have a printed version of your flight ticket, to proof that you will leave the country. Border crossing fees may apply.
  8. Cancellations with less than 72 hours notice are non-refundable.
  9. Cancellations of single bookings will incur a $15 cancellation fee (plus any bank or vendor charges). Changes of dates or times may be possible without a fee depending on availability or vendor policy; otherwise the cancellation fee will apply.
  10. Cancellations are subject to bank imposed fees which are generally 3% to 5% of the amount. Or we will be happy to apply your payment to another service.
  11. Cancellations must be made in writing.
  12. No shows are subject to a 100% penalty.
  13. Not all river trips are suitable for all ages and physical conditions. Please make sure you have read the suitability information on the tour description. We cannot be responsible nor issue a refund if a tour is booked for someone who is unable to complete the tour or is younger than the minimum 9 years of age.
  14. Your pickup time will be approximately 5:30-6:30 a.m. More details will be supplied with your reservation confirmation.
  15. Your luggage will be securely stored and transported for your full trip, including while you are on the river.
  16. For pickups in Arenal, some hotels which are further out will be charged a $30 pickup charge per group (not per person). These include Arenal Lodge, Arenal Observatory, Arenal Vista Lodge, Lost Iguana, and Rancho Margot.
