Looking to enjoy a walk through the beautiful Costa Rican jungle? This Cahuita National Park hike won’t disappoint.
Cahuita National Park
Cahuita National Park is one of the most beautiful protected areas in Costa Rica. It is also one of the oldest national parks of Costa Rica! It was founded in 1970 to protect the coral reef. Because of its white sand beaches, coconut palms, turquoise seas and coral reef this is a tour you won’t want to miss!
Grab your shoes and let’s go on a Cahuita National Park hike! We will pick you up at your hotel and drive 30 minutes in a microbus from Puerto Viejo to Cahuita National Park. The tour will start at the Kelly Creek ranger station; this is the entrance that is closest to the center of Cahuita. From here, our naturalist tour guide will use his sharp senses to spot animals. You’ll be sure to make new friends along the road! Monkeys, sloths, toucans and raccoons are all common residents.
Halfway through the hike (around 2.5 km) we’ll reach Cahuita Point. Here, we’ll take a break and may have a swift dip into the ocean. From Cahuita Point we’ll make our way to the other park entrance, Puerto Vargas. Then we’ll return you to your hotel!
Note: If the track to Puerto Vargas is in poor condition we may return to the starting point instead.
