Comments about Lazlo's Catch of the Day Write a comment/review Puerto Viejo SatelliteAfter 5 years of operating under the radar with no sign and no license, the authorities have closed down Lazlo's. So unless they get licensed and pop back up this place is now closed. Después de 5 años de operación sin rotulo y sin permisos, Restaurante Lazlo ha estado cerrado por los autoridades. Tal vez van a reabrir pero por ahora están cerrados.November 16, 2017 Monet from USAWonderful meal!My husband and I found this gem of a restaurant by running into the owner over a poker game. He invited us to come on his boat. My husband went and I did not but when they returned, they brought back dinner. Lazzlo does this everyday and serves up the "catch of the day" to perfection!! I couldn't believe how amazing it was! We even went back for a another night and debated on a third night. The only reason we didn't was because we would have spent most our trip dinning at the same restaurant. Looking back, I wish we had!!! Thinking about that grilled tuna makes my mouth water and often I tell people it was the highlight of our trip!! If you are ever in this town, don't miss the chance to have the meal of a lifetime!!! Also, Lazzlo and his son will crack you up! :)April 26, 2012 DanielIf you are in Puerto Viejo after 6 pm this is an absolute "must try" place to eat. You will find Lazlo's Red truck and boat on a trailer parked across the street from this small, seemingly 'hole in the wall', roadside restaurant. Lazlo goes out fishing everyday and returns with fresh Tuna, Amberjack, Mahi Mahi and more. He is a perfectionist and a fanatic about the perfect piece of fish and the best preparation. I have never and, I have no doubt, will never eat Tuna, Mahi Mahi, or sashimi as good as the meals served in this restaurant. Lazlo is not trying to make money, there is no way this is profitable at the prices he charges and what he pays for fuel alone. Lazlo's paycheck is absolutely in the smiles and praise of his customers who are mostly locals. If you have not tried eating here, and you can get to Puerto Viejo, do yourself a favor, GO to this restaurant. It was a life changing eating experience and I never expected a plate of food to change my perception of life. My wife is disgusted by fish and has never ordered or ate fish. When she got back to the states and her father asked to name the one best experience of the trip, her answer was "Eating Tuna at Lazlo's". He offered her a special piece of Tuna and she put it in her mouth because she didn't want to be insulting. I know her original intention was to spit it out when he wasn't looking. My wife ordered the Tuna meal and ate the whole plate. It is truly an opportunity of a lifetime to eat there.April 17, 2012 Write a review Reply to: None Email: (required) (Address never made public) Name: (required) Show only first name?
