We visited the rescue center while in town. Learned a great deal from the guide. He was very knowledgeable about the local animals. Had the most amazing time interracting with the monkeys. Best experience of our trip. Go and learn from them.

Are animals that stroke to be misused, can never be put back into the wild.
Instead, they become accustomed to humans.
The sloth does not trees and shrubs.
The monkey does monkey society, not tourists.

The Center is a spacious rooms, a fraud!
Is a crime against the animal.

The animals at the rescue center have been injured and are at various stages of rehabilitation. There are two sloths who can be held and stroked.. these are two that can never be released back into the wild; their injuries were too severe. You can not touch the wild sloths, they just hang out recuperating.

The monkeys play with their wild monkey cousins everyday - when they are well enough they join the wild pack. There is plenty of monkey "society" for them.

From the website you may make judgements, but I assume you have not been there. It is a wonderful place. Please do not judge without all the facts.

There are 3 possibilities:
1. You have the wrong address.
This problem is simply that I have to waste valuable time that could be spent on the animals to answer to you.
2. You don’t know the center.
The problem is bigger because if you don’t know the job we’re doing you can’t accuse without knowing what this all is about.
3. You have visited the center.
In that case it is a serious problem because if you have seen something you consider criminal and you don’t get involved to give your reasons in a civilised way you are not helping the animals. Hiding behind an anonymous e-mail hurling nonsense accusations shows that you didn’t understand what we are doing and it’s completely useless that I try to explain it to you because of your arrogant ignorance, that will make it impossible for you to understand.

When we decided that we wanted to visit Costa Rica we based our trip around visiting the Jaguar Rescue Center. It is truly a great thing that is being done here. Our favourite was the baby sloth named chocolate chip. We highly recommend visiting the center.

Hey Everyone! I gotta say, this could be one of our BEST videos to date. We're in Puerto Viejo Costa Rica on the Caribbean side of the country and we're visiting the Jaguar Rescue Center a few minutes from the center of town. We had been wanting to visit the rescue center form some time because we both love the animals, especially the sloths and the monkey's and the margays and the toucans and even the snakes. So, we were like 2 kids in a candy store and we got some GREAT footage. Check it out and I think you'll AGREE. If you're in Puerto Viejo Costa Rica you're not going to want to miss visiting the Jaguar Rescue Center... and why wouldn't you, even your admission price goes to help the animals.

Klasse !!!!!

I was in Cocles for 2 months and visited the center 3 times. The staff are great and the animals were amazing. The $10.00 entry fee goes towards the animals and is well worth it. This year I'll go more often!

What a beautiful location! This was an excellent place to spend a morning while in Puerto Viejo.
We were introduced to many snakes (caged) which helped us recognize the dangerous ones while hiking later on our trip.
We were able to spend time up close and personal with the monkeys I could hear, but never see more than a shape as they stayed high in the trees.
The staff and owners were interesting, involved and cared about these injured or young animals.
The sloths, owls, frogs and cats all found their way onto my scrapbook.
This was a very nice tour. I learned a lot and appreciate their rescue efforts. I'll tour again next time I am there.

Kat from Dallas, USA

I've been.
I've giggled with baby monkeys.
I took incredible pictures of sloths.
I listended to everything the owner said.
This place is great to visit. Even though we went zip lining, body surfing, snuck away on a volocano/hot springs getaway, a four hour hike through the jungle with a private guide....the Jaguar Rescue was my all time favorite.
The staff was friendly and warm. The monkeys were adorable. The sloths were incredible. Any questions, concerns, curiosity you had - they could answer.
All this for a $10 donation that wasn't advertised or enforced...thankfully we knew ahead of time.
Be sure to help out and give them some moula.
$10 didn't feel like enough for the experience that we walked away with.

PS Give Marilyn the baby howler monkey a hug for me if you go. Send her my love.

We had an awesome experience at Jaguar. They gave a great tour of facility, and their snakes and rescue animals were well behaved and amazing to experience in close proximity. Our Jaguar tour was one the best parts of our Costa Rican vacation. Thanks so much for your conservation efforts!
