20100728155743594_11-300x201Holbert and Reese remain in custody in Panama.

Panama writer Don Winner has now written that he believes there is a second victim buried in the Puerto Viejo area at another house rented by William Dathan Holbert and Laura Michelle Reese when they lived in the area several years ago.

When he put together the facts of the body found under a concrete slab in 2007 as being a victim of Holbert and Reese, there was one fact that didn’t make sense.  Stacie Duckworth, the one-time friend of Holbert and Reese, recounted a story to Winner of visiting a house they were renting and when she saw a pile of fresh earth said “Damn, Bill, that looks like a grave.”

But Duckworth has now confirmed to Winner that this wasn’t the house in Playa Negra where they body was found by investigators in November 2007.  In fact, the house was a vacation home called the “Monkey House”  which is in Playa Cocles (near the Pecora Negra restaurant).  This was rented by Holbert on March 28, 2007 using fake identification from the Cayman Islands with the name “William Julius Caesar”.

While there doesn’t appear to be any other evidence yet suggesting that someone was buried there other than Duckworth’s sighting of the pile of fresh earth, it does seem to be worth further investigation given the widening scope of the killings.

Amarillismo periodistico, chismes y rumores no existe ninguna prueba de que ¨Big Bill¨tambien hubiera cometido homicidios en Puerto Viejo de Limon.
My beach houses and bungalows ¨Tio Lou Caribe¨ are near the Pecora Negra restaurant on calle Ole Caribe in Playa Cocles, where I have been living since 1992,and I never heard of a vacation home called the ¨Monkey House¨.I knew about the house in Playa Negra where the body was found by investigators from OIJ in November 2007.I believe these are only rumors-gossip.

“Moneky House” is a more recent twist on “Casa Mono”, which became “Casa Mono” when a monkey mural was painted on it. Before that it was commonly called “The Vet House” where a local animal vet I’m sure you’re familiar with used to work out of. I won’t bother putting a Google map link directly to the location since everyone else in the area knows exactly where it is. I’m not questioning the fact that rumors and gossip abound in Puerto Viejo, but so so a few facts.

ps: And judging from Bill’s voracious greed and pattern of behavior, it would probably be best to put everyone’s heads together and ask who else may have been a victim in the area. After all, no one really even noticed Jeff Klien was missing. Everyone just believed the story that he checked himself into a rehab center. Anyone else done that recently in the area?

Bill had some second-hand cars for sale at the lot where lately Juan built La Terraza de Cocles.
That was some month in 2007 before Semana Santa.

Yeah that’s the one. It’s a nice little place. My wife was managing the property while Bill was there. We don’t remember any “home improvements” or concrete work done around that time though…
