It's hard to believe that out of the thousands
of people who have been saved from drowning,
that none of them have reached back
and helped to support the lifeguard program they
owe their lives to. Maybe from this point on,
contact information should be gotten after each
rescue...so that lifeguard program updates can
be sent, and donations can be sent in gratitude
by these fortunate people.

Wow bad times for all. Seems to me that the local surf schools would support such a project since it would only benifit there well being. Group together and volunteer your time be supportive of your community. Take some of the moneys you earn and put it to work for yourselfs. At $40 an hour seems to me there should be some room for everyone to benifit schools would have a safer beach to work at. Bad press would stop because safety would be number one concern. Volunteering can give self esteem!
Good luck stay safe. I am a lifeguard and volunteer at our local pool. Food for thought
