Posted by Editor | November 29, 2008 | Categories: Tourism | 2 Comments
The front page of the Travel section is Friday’s USA Today was a story entitled Costa Rica’s Caribbean Vibe and is a feature story all about Puerto Viejo and Cahuita! It’s nice to see us in the news for something not just about the flooding!
The article does a great job of explaining what makes Puerto Viejo special and different from the Pacific Coast and I think will really atract the kind of tourists who will enjoy their experience here.
Getting mentioned in the article are Hotel Banana Azul, Global Creek, Aviaros del Caribe, Jammin’ Juice and Jerk Joint, Cariblue, El Encanto, Loco Natural, Cha Cha Cha, La Pecora Negra, Miss Edith’s and Roberto’s Tours.
And there’s a lovely photo gallery as well.

This is great. My Grand parents were from this area. Cahuita to be exact. My parents have always spent vacations there, and I have started following their footsteps. I have always loved this are, and continue to boast about its beauty to all in the USA whenever possible. I have always felt that this area was left out of headlines due to its strong Afro-Caribbean flavor….as some choose to put it. I have been looking to invest time on developing some of the land that my grandparents left for us, but everytime It seem overwhelming due to the lack of infrastructure this side of the country has endured. My brother & I asked some tourists from San Jose one time what do they feel this side of the country need, and they said it need some place where people can come catch some sun, and drink a piña colada without anybody bothering them…..you know? Anyway, I just got back from visiting there & Panama 2-wks ago, and saw how Puerto Viejo is striving to change…Keep it going man! Anyway, above is the site I started building on my idea.
In cahuita you can for sure get some sun and drink a cuba libre w/ out a care in the world. I love the Caribbean side of Costa Rica, dont change a thing……….PS buy organic bannanas and stop killing the reefs in this area!
